EDIT: Here's an update from Tim Kring.
Original post:
Thanks to Heroes-ODI for the heads up.
In all honesty, I think it's going to be one big fail. He pitched an idea for Season 5 over the summer, and they obviously rejected it, so I think it's safe to say this is headed towards the reject pile too. Not to mention Sylar and Claire being the protagonists of the mini-series, and while I happen to like Sylar, I'd prefer the ending to be more ensemble, if it ever happens.
I enjoyed the Sylar-Peter relationship towards the end of the last season. It was something they could have explored more had they kept them "brothers" in Volume Three. Honestly, so much potential... wasted.
I also think Matt should have taken a darker route in the finale as promised, and if this takes flight, I hope they explore that, other than the whole "I hid you behind a brick wall in my basement" thing. He can, and has, gone darker.
Anyway, knowing Kring, I see a lot of character regression and bipolarity in its future, but let's hope for a miracle (and perhaps a mysterious batch of pot brownies that pop by his doorstep while he's writing) so that we get a better series finale.

Wait. Honestly? I don't usually speak ill of anything as a rule, especially not books or series, but hasn't he done this before? A world where everyone would know about the heroes? Wasn't it like the whole point of season 2 or 3, avoiding a world like that? And now he's back at it? Humph, is all I can really say...

I'm a ardent Kring basher, so go ahead and speak your mind. The man is in love with Sylar and Claire, and I wouldn't shy away from saying it's something sexual or psychotic.
Have you watched the entire series yet Terry? I'll start up a discussion about the S4 finale if you or anyone wants to talk about it. It pity myself for seeing some potential in those last few episodes.

I think the show needs a better conclusion. One that actually concludes rather than just ends. One thing I would love, if they do make some sort of ending to the series, is the return of Micah and Monica. Mainly Monica, because I loved everything about her SO much, but also Micah because he was a series regular in the beginning, and to have him be included in the ending would be amazing. I like that he's made guest appearances every season or so since he was written out, and also that they kinda gave closure to Monica's character in the graphic novels, but it would just be SO much more satisfying to actually be able to see them again, one last time. After all, they are some of the only main characters who were written out, rather than completely axed off like everybody else...

I was rewatching some of the "Fugitives" episodes again and I realised how much I missed Micah, especially in the episodes "Cold Snap" and "I Am Sylar". I wouldn't mind having him back. As for Monica, she was a really interesting character, but in that last episode of S2, she really got boring when she was all helpless and stuff. She's been off the show for about two years now, and seeing as she's been in only about 6-7 episodes as opposed to the others, I don't think I'd really want to see her. I want Molly Walker back. Adair Tisler is a brilliant actress.
I'd actually like them to bring back dead characters in Peter's prophetic dreams if they could. Or better yet, have another "Hiro jumps back in time" storyline for the miniseries/movie where he goes to a pivotal point and actually kills the freakin' cheerleader because of what transpires after her revelation. Future Hiro is killed soon after while still in the "past", and we jump into the consequential future which doesn't have two of the shows main characters that just stuck to the show like a tumor of some sort.
This moment could possibly while Claire's getting ready to go see Nathan in Odessa post S2, so Sylar never gets her ability, and the bullshit that was Volume Three will never happen. Sylar could possibly be the one teleported to the future, and having no control over Hiro's ability, he watches his changed self that we saw in "I Am Become Death" and the world around it. That way characters get closure through his eyes, and we have him facing the choice he struggled with in Volume Five. They could leave his new decision hanging, or perhaps reveal what it is.
It sounds like badly plotted fanfiction, but in this way, Kring gets his beloved Sylar as somewhat of a focal point in the miniseries, and characters get closure the way they must, no more Hiro (who should have respectfully died in Pass/Fail), no more Claire, and no more supercharged Ando. It annoyed me how everyone had a freaking power.

Adair Tisler is a brilliant actress. Ahh, I still remember squealing when Micah showed up in Cold Snap. ;D As for Monica, I think that's a perfect reason to bring her back, if not just to REALLY show what she can do. But I'm not really sure how they could really incorporate her back into the show. Just my wishlist MOLLY! Oh god, Adair Tishler is incredible. I can't believe I forgot about her. I would love it if they could bring her back. I didn't really care for her story in the graphic novels. It'd be great if they could just show some dead characters through a power, or yeah- like you said, another time-jumping journey. I would LOVE that. It'd be like literal flashbacks! However, I don't want Claire to get killed off. I think it'd be a really good way to end the series: after starting off with the whole "SAVE THE CHEERLEADER, SAVE THE WORLD", end it with "KILL THE CHEERLEADER, SAVE THE WORLD", kind of thing... but Claire is one of the biggest reasons why I enjoyed the first season so much, and also one of the main reasons why I sat through the next three years of the show, despite how the writers really butchered her character, no pun intended. Although I do think Sylar should be one of the main characters (he's become a fan-favorite), I don't think he should be the focal point. The show started off with Peter as the MAIN main character, it should end that way, too. And I agree, I hated how everyone ended up with a power.

I enjoyed her in S1, and that's where it stopped. She got too annoying and pointless in the other seasons, except, perhaps, the S3 premiere. I'd definitely like to read about why you enjoyed her in one of the character threads. I was just about to open one for S3 like I did for the earlier ones, but I don't mind if you beat me to it.
I understand that Peter was the main character of the show, but I don't believe Tim Kring believes that. The thing about his character at that point is, though, that he's all about saving Nathan and grieving over his death/injury. So I just felt that Sylar would be a more appropriate person to rope us into that reality.
I'd love to hear about where everyone else (yourself included) would want these characters to end up post-4x18.

I will get started on that, soon. edit: umm... where are the character threads? :S lol Or, if I have to start one, where do I start it...? lol Shoot, I completely forgot about Peter's current state. One of the things I really couldn't stand about the show sometimes, was that they would take half a season just to cover a few hours in their universe. It was so hard to keep up with the timeline, even for the writers, at times. But anyway, with that into consideration, I agree completely- Sylar should be the focal point, as Peter isn't completely stable at the moment. As for "post-4x18" theories, do we keep it in this thread? :s

I'm trying to moderate the creation of threads that will never be replied to other than the "OMFG, I loved him/her too. Bestest character eva!!!!". I think we should keep the theories in here for the time being, and post news in new threads. Again, this is to prevent an outburst of useless threads and having fanfiction ideas splatter all over the S5 board. We might even delete/lock this if the movie/miniseries doesn't go through. EDIT: Wait, when did they take half a season to cover up just a few hours?

I'll work on the new thread(s) soon. One of the things I really couldn't stand about the show sometimes, was that they would take half a season just to cover a few hours in their universe. Wait, when did they take half a season to cover up just a few hours? Sorry, I meant days There were so many times where they would take half a season just to cover a few days in their universe. The timeline after season 1 was so messed up because they were filling in the time during the Writer's Strike. Two years after Kirby Plaza (2007), it was still 2007. They only reset the timeline this past season in Once Upon a Time in Texas (IMO, just to say that Hiro was going back in time three years, rather than just one).

I think S3 is when they messed up. In S2, they had quite a fair idea how they were going to handle the timeline, with Peter leaping in time from early 2007 to mid-2008 and back. Seeing as all S2 episodes aired in 2007, and that S2 was meant to end with the virus actually being released (but that had to be changed because of the writer's strike), S2 would have ended circa mid-2008, and Heroes would be in sync with our time.
Heroeswiki suggests that Volume Four spanned about a year or more in the Heroes universe, so that probably explains their "Three Years Ago" folly.
All others who smell that distinct stench of lies called "Kringshit" say "I".
I can see a comic book thing taking flight (similar to Buffy and Charmed), but then again, this man will ruin it all, unless he pulls off a miracle and brings back that organic feel the characters had four years ago.
