Season/Volume Two was titled "Generations" and through the course of its eleven episode run, we were introduced to some of the "Group of Twelve" aka The Company Founders.
These people were:
Arthur Petrelli, Angela Petrelli, Maury Parkman, Charles Deveaux, Kaito Nakamura, Daniel Linderman, Harry Fletcher, Susan Amman, Carlos Mendes, Bob Bishop, Paula Gramble, and Victoria Pratt.
We learned that back in the day, this group did something horrible, and although most of them are already dead (or seem to be), someone's coming back for the remaining few.
This someone is revealed to be Adam Monroe, aka the ageless Takezo Kensei from Feudal Japan, who also united the twelve of them under a common goal.
I was really interested in the Twelve's backstories, and how their actions had an impact on their children (that exchange between Kaito and Angela on the Deveaux rooftop, slap included, was priceless). I also think that this wasn't a bad season really, it was just slowly paced, and the characters were well-set, it was just the flow of the story.
So, just like the S1 thread, this one is to discuss the S2 characters and character development. Depending on how discussion goes, we might branch out into sole character threads too, and perhaps, a "characters" section.
So, speaking about the impact the older generation had on the younger, it brings me to Matt. Really, I didn't like this character in the previous season (or the seasons that follow), but I did really love his development in this one.
And Cristine Rose/Angela Petrelli. One word: Brilliant.
Had it not been for the writers' strike, I'd have liked to see this volume continue (although "Powerless" was always meant to be the end of the "volume", not season, just with a different ending), I'd like to have seen flashbacks of this past generation and their interactions with the current one in those episodes with lost potential.
What do you guys think? And which character progression/regression affected your viewing decision in this volume?
