1. The Power of Three | | Synopsis:
"In this night and at this hour, I call upon the Ancient Power. We want the power. Give us the power."
Prue, Piper, and Phoebe Halliwell didn’t think reading a magical incantation would really work. But it did. Now Prue can move things with her mind, Piper can freeze time, and Phoebe can see the future. They are the Charmed Ones - the most powerful of witches.
But being enchanted has a price. There’s a warlock who wants to steal their powers. And he’ll do it any way he can - even if it means killing them. |
Author:Eliza Willard ISBN: 0-7434-0925-6
Melinda Warren:"Melinda Warren left England and arrived in America in 1654 with her two years old daughter Cassandra. Her descendants include branches of the Grants, the Morgans, and the Marstons. Never forgetting her knowledge of witchcraft, Melinda Warren possessed three special powers. The first, telekinesis, or moving objects using only the power of her mind. The second, clairvoyance, or the ability to see the future. Her third power: to stop time. Melinda Warren’s powers were discovered when her lover, Hugh Montgomery, betrayed her to the townspeople. She was tried for witchcraft, found guilty and sentenced to be burned at the stake - a sentence that was never given before. The townspeople tied her to a stake in the center of the village. Her last words were, ‘You may kill me but you can not kill my kind. With each generation, the Warren witches will grow stronger and stronger until - at last - three sisters will arrive. Together these three witches will be the most powerful witches the world has ever known. They will be known as the Charmed Ones.’ " from the Book of Shadows Witches & Warlocks:"The conflicts between the sects originated at the dawn of time and is bound by the inherent differences between witches and warlocks. Originally warlocks were witches. As “witches gone bad” warlocks are determined to make their mark by torturing innocents. Another quest is to kill witches and steal their powers. Warlocks have also been known to form agreements with demons to further their goals. All of this is done in an effort to strengthen their own power to perform evil deeds. Warlocks have been growing stronger and stronger with each generation. They usually appear in human form. However, they can easily take on a monstrous demeanour. It is difficult to recognise warlocks until they have revealed their evil powers." from Witches and Warlocks - the Eternal Battle Protection Spell:Pour red wine into a silver chalice; Cover a table with dark blue cloth and light candles; Recite the spell:
“Ancient One of the earth so deep Master of moon and sun. I shield you in my Wiccan way, here in my circle round, asking you to protect this space, and offer your sun force down.” To Unbind Your Powers“Hear now the words of the witches the secret we hid in the night The oldest of gods are invoked here. The great work of magic is sought. In this night and in this hour, I call upon the ancient power We want the power Give us the power.” To Break the Bond of Love:Light a circle of white candles around a table; Place a flat copper bowl in the middle filled with 9 candles anointed with oil and spices and burn them ; Carve a poppet out of soap; Press (rose) thorns into the poppet and let it burn while reciting the spell:
“Your love will wither and depart from my life and from my heart” To Vanquish Jeremy:Repeat:
"The Power of Three will set us free."

Although the book is supposed to retell 1x01 "Something Wicca This Way Comes" it differs in some parts: e.g. Prue meets Andy for the first time in a café: Darryl is not present; Phoebe has an encounter with the “ghost” of Melinda Warren, Phoebe meets Andy in a Wiccan store, the spells aren't exactly the same, ect.) Patty's maiden name is said to be Marsten. In “1x09 The Witch Is Back” the lover who betrayed Melinda is Matthew Tate; in the book, however, it is said that his name was Hugh Montgomery (he obviously was not a warlock either). The book does not mention Kit coming to the girls. Warlocks, in the series' canon, do not bleed but Jeremy is described as bleeding. The information about Melinda Warren conflicts with that which was given later in the show: e.g. Melinda had one daughter, not two (1x09 "The Witch Is Back"); Melinda was born in Virginia, not in England (3x04 "All Halliwell's Eve").
