True Blood, 4.05 - Me and the Devil
Bill gets into some difficulty and Sookie takes Eric under her wing. Tommy involves Sam in his criminal activities while Arlene and Terry look to religion for answers. Jason gradually regains his health. Lafayette and Jesus make their way to Mexico seeking a way to control their powers.

Yeah, I know I didn't post in the last episode thread, but screw it.
Wow...most definitely not a favorite for me.
The positives? The now infamous Charmed reference, as discussed in the Shoutbox. The entire scene in general was great for me. I especially loved the whole Sookie hearing her grandmother's voice. I would have liked to actually see her, but it wouldn't have made sense. But her voice was good enough. Favorite line, "When my gran tells me to run, I run".
Sookie and Eric, actually Eric in general. Him somewhat fighting off his bad dream - I love how the promo for the episode was so misleading. For a moment I actually thought he was really going to drink from her- and him coming to terms with what he's done from Tara (I'm gonna get on her soon). And yes, the kiss at the end. I love how the music was when it happened.
Pam, being so vein - I remember in 4.02? where she was talking to Sookie and admiring herself in the mirror - is still badass and funny even after the grotesque skin loss. The final scene with the meeting and her messing up at the end was a plus, writing wise. I've never seen Pam fuck up like she did. And the fact that she knows what she might have caused was all the more satisfying. But I loved how they mentioned vampires being in major influences in their time. Back then, they were priests. And it just seemed so smart and fascinating to me. This being a viewer from only season 3.
The sex scene threesome? Jessica/Hoyt/Jason. The ending was hysterical for me.
And I like the way Jesus says Brujo. It's funny.
The Bad?
Lafayette/Jesus. Not as good as recently. Today, I found them boring. Lafayette had one very small tee-hee line, but I can't even remember, it wasn't even all that great. I would have liked to see more of them actually in Mexico. Even his background was a little boring. The whole licking the bloody blade okay, I guess.
Tara...just shut the fuck up. I love, and by love, I mean hate, how the first 30 minutes her and Sookie were all "I love you" but come the second half, "Fuck you, Sookie". Really? It hasn't even been a full week in Bon Temps time, I don't think, and she hates her again. Whatever. I'm off it. she needs to go bsck to Nawlins and sort things out with Naomi anyways.
Marnie and her whole, "I don't know what happened" crap is just getting old. I wish she could just become a full on conduit already and recruit new witches. I've come to find I like her much more when she's possessed by the witch rather than her usual self.
Tara's mom and the Reverend...no comment.
Terry and Arlene. Arlene had one funny line, but other than that, they were pretty much boring, except for the ending with the moving voodoo doll and the fire...ooohh.
Sam and Tommy. I'm glad to see they can both bond after sinking the bodies of their parents. Sam's getting very eerie and mysterious and I'm not really a fan. And the whole "Mama" thing in the beginning just made me cringe. He just looked so weak. I don't see them becoming real close after this, just a matter of time before someone fucks up.
Jessica and Hoyt. Really was hoping she would, you know, actually tell him about her drinking someone's blood. The guilt is just taking away from the couple. And I'm quite surprised to see Jason so open about his open junk to the STD ridden women of Hotshot, even going as far as saying, "Hey, that's not important! I just went through something...". Kind of douche like to me.
And Alcide and the whole werewolf thing could have possibly waited until the next episode, seeing as we haven't seen him all episode. Prolly would have been a pretty good opener for next Sunday's episode.
It wasn't necessarily a bad episode, just certainly not in my favorites. Thoughts?
Marnie's naivity (or whatever) is what makes her character so great. She's like a confused old lady when she's human and bad-ass-Kalhan-Amnell when she's possessed. I, personally, love it. When they make her a full on possessedBitch, I bet it will merge with the fairy storyline. Like, maybe Marnie can travel between the two realms...
