True Blood, 4.03 - If You Love Me, Why Am I Dyin'?
Eric and Sookie work out an agreement while Bill renders advice and guidance to Jessica. Meanwhile, Jason becomes Crystal's reluctant hero and Tommy, once again, becomes estranged from Sam. Pam instructs Lafayette that if demands aren't met, retaliation may be in order. Marnie sets out to give her new powers a try. Eric upsets a get-together.

The first scenes with Eric and Snooki...Sookie was the way to open up the episode. Now I know Alex can play the badass and the vulnerable one quite well. And all throughout the episode, he was this innocent six year old you just can't seem to hate. I didn't even know vampires were ticklish. And I really hoe he stays this way for a while. He even stood up for Sookie against Pam. PAM! The ending scene with Eric and Claudine was hilarious. His "sorry" and bloody smile at the end, really great.
I've always loved Lafayette's way of speaking and mannerisms. Flamboyant yet stern and tough. And this is my favorite episode with him of the season, even if we are three episodes in. He still needs to shave that fro-hawk, though. At least wear a scarf or something. And Tara's line about not even being two hours in the town and she's already attacked. Which begs the question of why she didn't put up more of a fight. I thought the only reason she became a cage fighter was so that she can, you know, PUT UP a fight. Yes, it's human vs. vamp, so she's not expected to do well. But she should have tried. Anyways, the table scene at Lafayette's was great. "Just stay exactly the way you is". The scene with Pam vs. Tara was great as well. It may just be me, but I wouldn't mind seeing them as a...team? Don't stone me.
"God, grant me the serenity...fuck it." The best comedic line of the episode. More Andy and his addiction, please. It could be comedic and hysterical at first, then turn dramatic when he really, REALLY wants to stop. Or just all around comedic.
Portia and Bill. He's becoming quite the tramp, isn't he? It might make for a good reality check for Sookie, to see him involved with the girl who's taking care of her house, assuming she's still on that. She might just say, "Fuck it, I'll go with Eric." And yeah, I'm seeing your point, Brandon, with Bill being king. He really is a king. It's gonna get some getting used to, but sure I'll try it. The Youtube vid with the fangbanger was funny as hell. She was all smiling at first, and then screaming. What the hell, I mean that in the good way. The scene with Bill and Jessica was also a great one. Another relationship I'd like to see more of. I still love that scene last season where she says she has nowhere to go and she isn't going anywhere.
ARGGHH! Jessica. Not really big on the whole wiping his memory of your confession thing. Hoyt's line of no other woman exists to him really got to me. I don't know how long she's actually going to keep it to herself, though. But I'm hoping she comes clean. And the voodoo doll given to baby Rene was a good twist. It's going to be a great story for Arlene and Terry. Hopefully it could be the boost she needs. I've already seen those small commercials with a narrator actually reading the script and the crayon that writes a message on the wall.
What else...?
Alcide and Debbie. Debbie...turning a new leaf. We'll see how that goes. Maybe it was bad acting on her part or a sense of nervousness when she was around Sookie. I wasn't really buying it. Though it's great to see Alcide again. With a shirt on, no less.
I can't remember seeing alot of Luna and the shifter circle in this episode, so I can't comment that. Though, as expected, the whole brothers Mickens thing was very, VERY short lived. I have to give it to Tommy, though. He did try, though. It was a dick idea, but can you expect anything less from the boy raised by Melinda and Joe Lee? And honestly, I can see where he's coming from with Sam being high and mighty thinking he's better than Tommy. It's true, of course, but Sam kind of rubs it in. Alot. But the whole reading scene with Maxine was okay.
Hotshot. Is it horrible I couldn't keep a straight face while Crystal rapes Jason. My brother was there and we just sort of snickered to ourselves. It wasn't the fact that he was getting raped, it was the way he portrayed it. When he woke up and you just see Crystal bouncing up and down. She was creep as hell. And all those dirty women watching, I can't really explain, but whatever. And another thing that kept me guessing. During a rerun, my brother, someone whose only seen random episodes of the show asks, "So those other girls, are they watching, or waiting their turn?". At first, I thought they were just watching. But it would make alot of sense if they were waiting for their slice. More children for the Hotshot pack. Jason's bound to catch something with all that dirty snatch. Just saying.
All in all, my favorite episode thus far. Good job, Alan. Thoughts?
