It actually looks a lot like Twilight/Vampire Diaries, I mean, the filming style and locations. But I guess it sounds pretty different, and could be interesting if done right. But I think there are too many characters for the CW to handle.

It's gonna be as amazing as The Vampire Diaries, which is to say, not amazing at all, except for the seldom hits as compared to the countless misses. More for me to pee on, I suppose. But it will do well on the CW. All them vadge-possessing youngin' gonna tune in and ZOMFG all over the interwebs later.
Bring back more mature witches a la Charmed and Buffy.

@brandon - I just want to know, did you see any of season 2's eps of TVD? To me, S2 felt a little more grown up & Bonnie exploded as a witch. She has grown so much & taken such risks with her powers. She has impressed the hell out of me.
As for the Secret Circle, saw the trailer, not too excited for it but will check it out just to satisfy my curiosity & the fact that it stars Thomas Dekker. I'm mostly looking forward to Ringer because I miss SMG & I have begun watching Buffy from the beginning.
As for mature witches returning to TV. I vote yes. But not witches like in "Eastwick" who were already married with children & what not. I want fresh 20-something girls like they did with Charmed. Like teenagers have all the drama in the world & witches in school has been done to death. Just sayin'....

She has impressed the hell out of me. To be honest, I have only watched S2 of TVD, and they might have had moments, just moments, where they shined, but most of it was horribly written. And Bonnie has never made it into these shiny moments for me. Did you watch the penultimate episode, where she magically fingers/fists Klaus while ranting BHOOM SHAKALAKA in order to kill him? I really wasn't impressed by her trying to stimulating his prostate to death with some abracadabra. Her other moments were crap too. That scene where she "died" in order to save Elena, and when she cried out to Emily Bennet to save Jeremy. Pathetic. Sure, Charmed wasn't a magnum opus either, but the main characters were at least tolerable and had average to above average acting skills. High-five. I quite enjoyed Eastwick. It was different, played on the whole "Mother-Maiden-Crone" thing, and, had it been given more time to grow, would have been the new Charmed. Pity it was on ABC.

Eh, I don't know. I'll give this show a try. It looks like it has some potential, and I love Phoebe Tonkin, though she may have to work on covering her accent a little more. You can hear it kind of seep through when she talks.

I am a huge fan of TVD it's actually a lot more mature and dark than it appears and it does a good job of keeping me gripped so if TSC is anything like that then I think I'll enjoy it. Although TVD started off quite slow so I hope TSC doesn't take as long to get good.

I feel exactly the same way, most people dismiss TVD cause they think it's full of teenage drama, but it's actually a lot more than that and I think Ian Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev are amazing actors. He can convey so much emotion simply using his eyes.

I'd love to take this TVD discussion to the designated section if/when I remember to. I'd also appreciate it if the two of you would join me and elaborate on your viewpoints.

Phoebe Tonkin (Faye is it?) looks fierce. They should make the show all about her, and cut out the confused blonde main character.
Kidding. But still... fiercely sexy.

Well the Show premiers tonight, I am very excited for it. As I was reading everyone's comments. I slightly agree with Rory and Brandon. If the cw is going to put on something more witchy, they should really consider of not keeping the whole idea close to TVD. Which by the way I hate TVD, I prefer True Blood just sayin'

I saw the first episode the other day and I enjoyed it. It wasn't brilliant or as good as I was hoping, but it was just the pilot (I said the same about Ringer) so I'm hoping over the next few episodes as the story builds it gets better. It's been too long since witches have been on TV so I hope this isn't a wasted opportunity.

Well I watched it and I enjoyed it too, although it's probably because I had set my expectations really low. And that "old TV show" feel it had to it. I really enjoyed what the witches were able to do, and hope to see more of it. I hope the writing doesn't go too bad post-premiere a la TVD and the characters turn into nothing but caricatures. They've cast a good set of actors that don't rely merely on hair-curls and eye-widening to prove a point.
I'll be tuning in for episode 2.

I saw some reviews on the first couple of episodes, I think it was by EW, that said that the first episode or two is really just setting up the story, while things don't really start happening until about the 3rd episode or so.
I quite enjoyed the pilot. It definitely has the potential to be my newest obsession. I just wish their spells didn't suck, and that they, oh I don't know, rhymed. Instead of that whole "Make it stop." bullshit she was saying. The "A drop of water as light as air." was passable, I guess, but just saying "Make it Stop", and rain just stopping was kinda lame.
Regardless, I'll be watching this show to see where it goes. Hopefully it stays pretty quality.

Loved it. ...pilot standard. Meaning, Loved it minus. I really the setup: the bar, that secret shack, the circle, the parents. Everything seems to have been thought out old school style. Meaning, the show has structure, not just random romance and bitchy main characters. (Phoebe Tonkin was awesome as Faye, just saying). And even though at first I was kind of annoyed that the main character was someone naive, it really seemed to work. I just hope she doesn't go all apeshit by the season one finale. :/ The Spells were... something new. Maybe we'll get used to them... or maybe not. Once things settle down with introductions and such, I can see this being a really strong show... ...with ugly opening credits.
