The S8 issues are being released as animated comics, voices and all on (as far as I know) Amazon.com and the iTunes website. The first episode is out, sadly it's US only and comes with a nominal fee of $1.99 to watch. There's a preview clip if you scroll down though, and it's pretty universal. Okay, I love the freaking animation and transitions between panels! So much better than reading that aweful issue. The voices though, they need to improve. Buffy sounds like Lady Gaga for crying out loud! They should have got Jennifer Hale (I think that's her name) who voiced her in the video game and animated series. So to all of you guys in the US, enjoy watching it. I'll let the rest of you know if there's an alternate video that can be accessed universally (one should spring up on Youtube, give it a few days).

I heard about this a while back, but I didn't think it'd be this good. It looks so smooth and cool! Definitely cannot wait for a pirate copy to be leaked onto YouTube. I might even set up a proxy and download it.
Not a substitute for the real thing, but who knows? Maybe now with the voiceovers, someone might take the time to match them up to real video clips.. Like so many have done with Charmed. :/

I had no idea this was actually happening, I'd heard about it but I always thought it was just something they were thinking about. I like the animation, I've always liked the idea of motion comics so if it becomes available anywhere else I'll check it out because I don't think I ever got all the way though Long Way Home, in fact I've only really jumped around season eight so far.
Thanks for posting! Definitely got me interested in the comics again.

The quality is awful, but it's still pretty awesome.

That looks really good. Very exciting to know that they are doing this.

Well for those of you who are planning on buying each episode every week, save up and get the DVD which is supposed to be released early Jan 2011. Source.

I'll definitely buying that DVD! But they really should find someone else to do Buffy's voice.

I've just watched the first episode and I have very mixed feelings. The voice cast was terrible and had absolutely no ability to carry some of the cheesier lines and a lot of the humour was lost because of that. But I liked the animation and the transitioning from scene to scene, so while not a perfect product I think it works as a little extra for the comics.

I actually really liked the first episode, it was good. Of course, it will take some getting used to and I think I might prefer the comics as they allow me to picture the scene properly.
The voices were.. Alright-ish. The voices themselves were ok, but the voice-acting wasn't too good. But I won't let that get me down. The thing that really got me down was how they started the episode. I was expecting it to be a bit slower and more mystical, instead they used the Buffy theme tune when it clearly didn't suit the video.
My thoughts exactly.

I've just tried to watch the second "issue" tonight and I couldn't get through it. The voice's are really starting to put me off. Giles was terrible and the delivery of some of the lines, particularly Buffy's are just so far off I really can't enjoy it properly. I mean how hard could it be to find some decent voice over actors. I know there's no way it could ever replicate the casts' voices perfectly but they could at least try!
I think it was because earlier I saw a preview of the Wolves at the Gate one and the way they had Buffy pronounce scythe was horrible. Stuff like that takes away the authenticity of it being Buffy.

I don't have any problem with the voices because I'm from Spain, I'm used to dubbing actors. I think that is a great idea, see again our series, in animation is awesome.

I agree. The voices are awful. They're not even good substitutes, as in, they're not even good voice actors. We can't expect the real thing, or even a similar voice, but at least have good voice actors. If that makes sense. And then some of the panels are really Bad quality. I mean who wants to see an enlargened picture of a blob? No one. And the "So gentle. NO NO I can't go outside..." part made me cringe.
