So I've been playing the game for a few days now (can't play full time ) and I do like it, like I did with all the previous LEGO games. The spell-casting is really great, but I have to admit that I do wish we could cast any spell at any thing, just to see the results. As it is, we can't. The spell wheel is great, but I do wish, too, that it was bigger. For those who haven't played, let me explain how it works. By pushing a button, you activate the spell wheel, where all the spells you've learned are kept (along with one special ability depending on the character you play with -- Harry's Invisibility Cloak, for instance). So there are eight spots. And the one at the top kinda serves as the "garbage spell bin" where all the funny spells like the Trip Jinx and Locomotor Mortis go -- they're all bunched together in that one spot and they each appear in turn. So when you try casting the spell from the top spot, you can't really decide which spell is going to be cast. And that bugs me. Like they couldn't do a bigger wheel or simply make a second wheel available by pushing another button... Other than that, the graphics are awesome and the game is just as funny as you'd expect a LEGO game to be. The characters really have a personnality of their own that is just priceless.

I agree with you, the spell wheel should grow bigger as you get more spells and they should have more lessons. I just finished playing year 2 today and I find that game to be quite enjoyable. It is addicting and I love the comedic twists they add to the cut scenes.

Actually, I found even worse than the spell wheel. Dumbledore. He has absolutely no particular ability of his own Come on, Traveler's Tales peeps! He's the bloody most powerful wizard of the age! And he doesn't get a spell of his own? Huh. *feels let down*

So I've just about beat the entire game and I've recently discovered that one of the gold bricks is a glitch in the game itself. It makes me kinda mad because now I either have to use a cheat or not be able to fully beat the game.
I hope that they learn from whatever errors are in this one when they make years 5-7.

Oh yes, the second LEGO Harry Potter: Years 5 to 7, is almost here, and I can't friggin' wait! And it's too bad, too, because I have a truckload of assignments for this week and the next, so it means I'll be torn between working and playing for that long :-( But without further ado, here's a nice little interview to stir your apetite, along with a trailer (you'll have to scroll down): enjoy!
