I can't wait for this. Buffy was/is one of my favorite television shows. I read the comics of season eight they were great too. I hope the Tales of the Slayers are just as good. I am defiantly counting on reading them when they get posted. I think it would be interesting to read about other slayers. i hope you include the First Slayer and Principle Wood's Mother she was a slayer in the 7Th season there was an episode of His mother and flashbacks of her being killed by Spike. Good Luck!!

May I ask who the author of these tales is? I believe there was an anthology of short stories/comics published that tied in to the main continuity of the Buffyverse.

@brandon: It is Ian's original idea, but each of us (I think, and by us I mean the Gods, a.k.a the Elders) have agreed to give it a try -- at least, I know Adam and I are at least tempted. Tash hasn't yet had the chance to give her input, and Rory I'm sorry to say I don't remember what she thought of writing a Tale :$ I think she didn't feel like writing a Slayer story, though; not into it enough. Jeez, I hate my memory. @kelsey: Thanks for the enthusiasm, I'm sure it'll put Ian (Nerf) in a good writing mood

Definitely looking forward to it.
I haven't been exposed to a Non-Witchlighter Lex fic in ages! And even your writing... Billie fics are not my cup of tea (I think that goes without saying), but from the number of reviews you get, I doubt it's anywhere near bad. And Tash! The lady can write, really can. I have one of her prose pieces somewhere on my computer. And of course, Ian. I'm love to read a piece of writing that isn't in an episode format, as I could see a sh*tload of potential for that in the latest episode of VS9.
As for Ro, not everyone should be forced to stake a Buffyverse fic. I never even knew that she was a fan.

As for Ro, not everyone should be forced to stake a Buffyverse fic. I never even knew that she was a fan. Truthfully, I will not be lending my writing to this cause. Reason? I'm not up to date with this show & its history as I am with say for example Charmed. I think I began watching Buffy when she saved Dawn from Glory. Then I recorded the following season but lost a bit of interest by the final season. I enjoy watching Buffy but I won't dishonour this show by penning a piece for it. I wouldn't do it justice. I think I'll stick to my side of the world & leave the Buffy-verse to the experts.

I knew it was something of the sort, but I didn't want to cite words that I wasn't sure were yours Oh, and Brandon, thanks for the veiled compliment I also happen to have one Tash's prose writings, and I'd wager it's the same that you do. Amazing, eh? I envy the girl's talent, really.

Yeah, I'm definitely tempted. I'm really getting into the Buffyverse, I got some the first three volumes of Buffy Season 8 and I'm on "Wolves at the Gate" right now and I'll be restarting "Angel" soon. I'm definitely excited. The idea with "Tales of the Slayers" is that we can kinda make up our own Slayer for an individual piece and just explore other cultures, enemies, characters or even expand on some of the past Slayers we knew. When Ian pitched it, I originally had no interest since I had no involvement in the show, but two months later, I completed the series and am still hooked.
I can't promise I'll have anything in the near future, especially considering that I really need to put all fan-fic writing towards "Witchlighter" but maybe I'll just give in soon.

Honestly, I think it's a pretty cool idea. I, for one, am not really into the show. I wouldn't really know what to expect. But I do get the whole "one slayer in every generation" concept, so that's should be enough for a completely new story, right? But the whole idea of the "Gods" of the site creating new slayers and it's all apart of the same story (sorta) is really great.
So, when you say short stories, do you mean like around 5 chapters or like one-shots?

I think the idea was that it could be either or. I know there's one I kinda have floating up in my head that could run for about 3-5 chapters - and I know we already had Nikki Wood (the Subway Slayer) who was stationed in New York, but I might actually cover New York as well since we only ever saw Nikki fight Spike on the train and in a park in Season 7. New York just has so much more to it than that and depending on how far I go back, I get to do some research on what was appropriate during those times.

I'd love to see your take on a slayer in New York, you know, since you actually live there. I've been looking into stuff for Torn, and the only surface places I could base demons were in subway stations, the park, and perhaps the Bronx and Brooklyn or whatever. Quite generic it is, I know, but I've only lived there through TV shows and movies.
Anyway, I was thinking about this the other day, and got me wondering... are any of you doing stories post-S7? And also, how far are you willing to stick to continuity? Will all of these ficlets be set in the same fanfictionverse, or are each of you entitled to your own Buffyverse?

I was actually going to speak with Nerf about this. We were originally discussing a Halliwell-ancestry thing a while back as well and said that we wouldn't do anything beyond the Charmed Ones, but with "Buffy" it's different. I feel like the thousands of Slayers that came around, there's just so many character opportunities. That was another reason that I wanted to get the Buffy Volumes so I could catch up with the storyline and even tie something in if I wanted to.
OH! Something just hit me. Faith is my favorite of the show and she could possibly play into it. Yeah, I'm definitely going to map this out soon. I just gotta get caught up on the volumes, I only have the first three. Maybe I'll go out and buy a few more today... I have some birthday money left over. Okay, I need to shut up, but I'm excited about this mini-project.
As for sticking to the Buffyverse, I wanna respect it. There's books and such on past Slayers and if we can't get our hands on those, the BuffyWiki site offers a load of info on the previous Slayers.

I actually think this will be pretty interesting, especially with you guys on board. I know some of you have already worked together over at C-net, but I think combining your prose skills will be something completely different. So yes, good luck with everything and know that I will be reading. I also hope Tash joins in, from all the compliments above, I've become quite curious about her talents!
